Zoë Sedney
Zoë Frederique Sedney (Zoetermeer, December 15, 2001) is a Dutch athlete who has specialized in the 100 m and 200 m hurdles. She is the younger sister of athlete Naomi Sedney.
Sedney started athletics at the age of five at ARV Ilion in Zoetermeer. Until she was 14, she combined athletics with hockey at hockey club MHCZ in Zoetermeer. At the age of 15, Sedney decided to focus solely on athletics, a decision that paid off with qualifications in four individual events (100m, 200m, 400m and 100m hurdles) at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Győr, Hungary in 2017. Sedney eventually competed in the 200m and 100m hurdles, winning gold in both events. At the same competition she was also part of the Dutch Relay Team (Sedney, Minke Bisschops, Suzanne Libbers and Anna Roelofs), which won a silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
In 2018, Sedney returned to Győr, this time to compete in the European U18 Championships. Sedney won a silver medal here in the 100m hurdles in 13.34.
In 2019, Sedney suffered a hamstring injury, which hampered her preparation for the European U20 Championships in Boras, Sweden. Sedney competed individually in the 200 meters, where she finished in 10th place. She was also part of the 4 x 100 meter relay team (Bisschops, Sedney, Demi van den Wildenberg and N’ketia Seedo), with which she won a silver medal.
